A few from the last 10 days

Have been rather busy over the last few days so not had a chance to do as much photography as I would have liked. I did however manage to head down to Dungeness about 10 days ago to try and see the Black-Winged Stilt that had been reported. The weather was awful - very windy and not really conducive to photography. Did manage to get a couple of shots I was pleased with though - despite the fact it was a little way away. Also managed a couple of swift photos but would like to tey this again when less windy and I can hold the camera stiller!

I then managed a couple of short trips to Old Lodge. Probably the closest reserve to me so ideal for quick trips. I will spend a bit more time there soon but I was pleased to get a few shots to be getting on with.

100 up!!

A trip to Dungeness last weekend provided me the opportunity to get the 3 birds I needed to get to 100 species. There were whitethroats everywhere although very flighty but I eventually managed to snap one! The Common terns have returned and I saw and photographed a distant hobby - however it was rather too distant so will try again for a hobby another day. Unlike the whitethroats the sedge warblers were very obliging and sat up nicely allowing me to get a shot of my 100th species.
Later at Rye I saw some lovely sandwich terns fishing and a few little terns as well (although sadly the little tern pictures are rubbish!)

Pulborough Brooks

A morning visit to Pulborough Brooks last week was rewarded with some lovely views of Nightingales. Whilst often hidden by branches etc there was one that was very obliging and came out in the open regularly to sing. I also saw some ;ovely bullfinches whilst there but they didn't ever stay still enough to photograph. I did manage a (rather distant) Wren shot and was pleased to see a drake Garganey. I should have managed a photo of a garden warbler but messed up the settings!!
